The German Egyptian - GPx core was established to bring together a multidisciplinary group of world-class Egyptian and German experts from various research fields/disciplines.  This collaborative core aims to establish multidisciplinary research and education platforms for healthcare professionals, young academics and students in order to develop tools and resources for translational research and personalized medicine.

The three day workshop and roundtable assembled leading experts in the fields of communicable and non-communicable diseases, genomics and bioinformatics in order to highlight the advances in genomic medicine and its influence on personalised medicine and global health. It is aimed at researchers, young academics and students.

It included talks and brainstorming sessions on collaborative ideas for the improvement of the disease burden in Africa and worldwide. Participants will also receive hands on training in bioinformatics and data analysis from experts in the respective fields.

Future directions such as internships, theses and postgraduate studies opportunities will also be discussed, as well as group discussions on the improvement of employability and interpersonal skills.
